Funded by the West Yorkshire Combined Authority as part of Seasons of Culture – Nature.
Heartwood is Eden’s Forest CIC’s creative woodland programme. Sessions offer gentle, nature-based making and calm outdoor time for adults who want to pause, reset and reconnect. You can book a community session on our new GoodHub page.

From bid to delivery
Heartwood began with the Seasons of Culture – Nature call for projects in Kirklees. We read the spec closely and built our pitch around it: a programme where creativity, nature and wellbeing support one another, open to people who might not otherwise get the chance to take part. From October to December 2026, we’re delivering that plan through a season of hands-on woodland sessions. These include cyanotype, greenwood work and willow weaving, alongside other woodland crafts.
Who we’re supporting
Heartwood is inclusive and barrier-free, with tiered Pay As You Feel ticketing (including a free option) so people across the Kirklees community can take part. We’re supporting a wide range of people, from community Pay As You Feel sessions to charities such as Carers Count, iASK, CLEAR and the Brunswick Centre, to name just a few.
Book a community session
Our community sessions are now bookable through our new Goodhub page. We offer tiered Pay As You Feel tickets, so you can choose what works for you, including a free option, or 50% or 25% off the full price. Everyone is welcome, whatever you choose.
Our Artist in Residence: Sarah McNally
Sarah brings a trauma-informed, neuro-inclusive approach to the programme, offering accessible creative activities such as cyanotype, greenwood work and willow weaving. Her practice focuses on sensory-friendly, low-pressure creativity that supports adults experiencing anxiety, overwhelm or social isolation.
The setting
Our woodland site is a short walk from Honley Train Station and includes sheltered spaces, a roundhouse, workbenches and a parachute canopy. A gentle stream, tall trees and quiet corners create a calm, sensory-friendly atmosphere. Sessions are fully catered, with a warm lunch, hot drinks and s’mores around the fire.
Our end project
Everything created during Heartwood will come together in a final project. Questions, or want to find out more about our end project?
